Why I Paid Someone $150 for 10 Minutes of Work

Our treadmill broke recently.

It just stopped working.

I tried to fix it for 30 minutes but couldn’t get it to work.

I knew I had two options:

1) I could YouTube it and spend hours trying to figure it out.

2) I could hire a fitness equipment repair company to fix it.

The company charges $150 to diagnose and to do basic fixes.

Since I VALUE my time as well beyond $150/hour, I scheduled it.

The repair guy took apart the main console in 5 minutes.

Within seconds, he saw the issue and fixed it.

Total repair time?

10 minutes max.

I HAPPILY paid $150 for his 10 minutes of work.


Because I just saved myself hours of trying to figure it out.

Which equates to thousands of potential revenue dollars.

It was paying $150 vs. losing out on thousands.

My additional COI (Cost of Inaction) would have been an unhappy wife who couldn’t use the treadmill.

I wasn’t paying for 10 minutes of labor..

I was paying $150 to give me back time so I can do what I enjoy.

This is the power of understanding value.

When you internalize this for your own life, it allows you to sell more effectively too.
